This year marks the 100th anniversary of Corinthian Hall, the residence of Robert A. Long and his family, and the historic home of the Kansas City Museum. The Corinthian Hall Centennial will be celebrated all year long with special events, programs and activities. The Kansas City Museum will be celebrating the “century mark” each month with a dynamic series of lectures, workshops, books, films and seminars that highlight Corinthian Hall’s unique architecture and the Long family’s deep and abiding commitment to the civic well-being of Kansas City. |

Tuesday, July 27
Charles “Lucky Lindy” Lindbergh’s 1927 dedication speech of the Kansas City Municipal Airport and remarks made at the Hotel President, is featured at Kansas City Museum’s July Community Curator Lecture, Tuesday July 27 at 6 p.m. at Union Station. University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Marr Sound archivist Chuck Haddix, AKA Chuck Haddock, of 89.3 KCUR’s Friday Night Fish Fry, will explore the recording and how this speech would lead to Kansas City’s “Spirit of Aviation.”

Corinthian Hall is undergoing an extensive renovation which will enhance the Museum’s presence in Kansas City’s cultural landscape. As a Friend of Kansas City Museum, you can get an up-close and personal look at the renovation progress at the Friends’ Private Hard Hat Tours. Led by Museum Director Christopher Leitch, Friends will learn about the mansion, see re-discovered original features and get a glimpse of future plans.

Boy Scouts Architecture Merit Badge Day:
Bring your Boy Scout to the Museum Saturday, Oct. 2 to earn their Architecture Merit Badge. Kansas City architects and historians will lead your Boy Scout on a tour of different architectural styles of Northeast Kansas City, including our home, Corinthian Hall. They’ll learn about architecture careers, see tools architects use, view construction drawings, and so much more.

Pueblo to Pueblo: The Legacy of Southwest Indian Pottery
Despite the Museum’s renovations, artifacts from the Museum’s collection continued to be shown throughout the city and country. Native American pottery vessels and supporting materials from the Museum’s Dyer Collection of Native American artifacts will go on tour throughout the United States starting in 2012 as part of the Pueblo to Pueblo: The Legacy of Southwest Indian Pottery exhibition, produced by Smith Kramer Traveling Exhibitions.
