  • Christopher Leitch, Director, Kansas City Museum

  • Lisa Lee, Director, Jane Addams-Hull House, Chicago

  • Dennis Domer, Assistant Professor, University of Kansas

  • Lori Cox-Paul, former Director, John Wornall House Museum

Join us for a lively conversation about one of Kansas City’s most beloved architectural and cultural icons. This wide-ranging discussion will explore the transformation of Corinthian Hall from the palatial residence of the Long family into Kansas City’s first history Museum. We’ll hear about the City of Kansas City’s ongoing restoration in light of how historic house museums, locally and nationally, are adapting to contemporary realities

Christopher Leitch will begin with a brief overview of Kansas City Museum and its grand headquarters at Corinthian Hall. He’ll be joined by his special guests for a discussion of how Kansas City Museum, like historic house museums across the US, must come to terms with a mixed identity. Lisa Lee, Dennis Domer and Lori Cox-Paul will explore how a historic house grapples with issues of preservation, civic responsibility and operational stability. All of these questions are raised as the Museum and its many partners in the City and the Museum’s surrounding neighborhoods vigorously plan for a next century of public service.
